Day #16 Memphis, TN to Hurricane Mills, TN

The long and winding road...

We awoke today to 64 degrees and a good chance of heavy rain. The Memphis Motors, 7 in all, arrived at the Hotel bright and early to help us out of the City. They did a great job and took us beyond the City limits and all the way to the County border. The first Group out (Pat, Rob, Dennis and Kevin) headed out of the City with headwinds, crosswinds and rolling hills. Not a bad ride at all.
After their ride Group 1 headed to the Cafe 100 Restaurant, Whitesville, Tennessee for breakfast. It was quite a place, all the patrons knew each other and it was like having a family get together. The food was great, the atmosphere was better. We took a photo in front of the place.
Group #2 (SB, Steve, Craig and Fred) went out into a pretty good crossing wind and were into rolling hills most of the way. Moose wasn't Happy! They were motivated to speed along to beat the rain. A good ride indeed.
Group #3 (Bruce, Nancy, Tony and Dawn) started off with a very light drizzle. Rolling hills were again in the picture the entire way. Up through the beautiful Tennessee woods they went. Snaking back and forth again and again. When our riders descended the speed was awesome and the views outstanding. They finished with a misty rain at the Hotel.
Today we finished 16 days, 2150 miles, of riding. On one hand we are happy we've come so far, but, on the other hand none of us want this Honorable experience to end.
Tomorrow we rest...no riding...just rest...

Some of the guys got a little excited about not having to ride tomorrow...

Glad you did not have the storms in Oklahoma. We received about 2.5 inches of rain here at the house. Ya'll passed through at a great time.
Just wanted to let everyone know we are watching your site and keeping all of you in our prayers.
We are leaving Sat for DC and we cannot wait to see you there.

God's speed.

Dennis-

Enjoy your day off. No 10 mile run for me and Jim today because I'm being a good girl and studying for my finals! I love you and miss you and can't wait to see you in DC. Mr Hoffmann- please keep my dad in line...I know he can get a little rowdy, so I'd appreciate it since I'm not there to do it myself. Keep up the good work everyone

I follow the blogs each & everyday. I Look forward to reading the reports, comments, and seeing the GREAT pictures.

You ALL make the entire POLICE community PROUD, with what you are doing to honor the fallen. Know we greatly admire you all, for the sacrifice you are making.

Enjoy your well-deserved day off. I am so jealous of you, such an experience you are all having. I can understand how you are feeling, not wanting the experience to end.

Hope to meet up with you in VA, someplace alone Rt.11, on Friday the 5th., and then again in DC.

WOW...You guys/gals are doing a outstanding job for our fallen.

This year will be my 3rd Unity Tour and have rode next to many of you. I know you have done this together (Unity). Craig bailed me out on my 1st ride (2004)& kept me ahead the support trailer on one leg on day 1.

Can't wait to welcome you guys to NJ when you arrive.

Guys,
Hope you are enjoying your much needed day off. Have you learned the words to Rocky Top? I'm sure you'll hear it when you toss one back at Kelly's in DC.

Rob-Kevin is working on the Allentown to NJ thing so you guys can all ride in to the great Garden State together.

Craig-The California crew responded very well and we are all set for the vigil in DC.

As so many have said on this site previously, you guys are doing an awesome job bringing awareness to the Memorial and the Police Unity Tour, but most importantly, making sure that our fallen brothers & sisters are never forgotten.

Keep up the good work. I can't wait to cheer your arrival in NJ and hear the great stories as we ride to DC.
