Day #5 Seligman to Winslow, AZ

We checked into the "Bates" Motel, thanks SB...Dennis decided to wash his shorts and Kevin suggested to hang them on the space heater to dry. Well at 12:30am the smoke alarm woke us up and we found the shorts "Smokin" on the heater. Needless to say "hot pants" Dennis won't do that again.
We all awoke to a balmy 40 degrees clear blue sky day. The first group, Bruce, Nancy, Dawn and Tony rolled out at 6:30am sharp. Well did they ever work, hill after hill appeared and they conquered each one on the road towards Flagstaff. Some of these hills were truly unbelievable. But they climbed up to an elevation of almost 5900 ft before they finished stongly, Great Job guys!
The second group, Dennis, Rob, Pat and Kevin started up from there climbing up to Flagstaff. They crossed the highest point at 7335 ft elevation. With a head wind and more rolling hills they continued on and eventually began heading downhill. At elevation 5000 ft they handed over the Baton to the third group.
The third group, Fred, SB, Craig and Moose started the long downhill to Winslow. They had the fastest average speed of the trip with a blazing 21.5 mph avg. They really worked well together, pulling each other along. Craig had a flat tire and Tony supervised him changing it, Hah! When they arrived in Winslow it was 68 degrees and Sunny. Only 4 flat tires today....
All in all another great day to Honor our fellow Officers. Along the way we got many words of encouragement from the public.
